The Boxer
“The Boxer is the clown of the dog world — boundless energy wrapped in a muscular, athletic frame, with a heart wholly devoted to their family.”

Beneath their slightly imposing, square-jawed appearance lies one of the most affectionate and playful breeds you can find.
Boxers are notoriously patient and protective with children, making them an incredibly popular family dog.
They thrive on human companionship and consider themselves a core part of the family unit — meaning they’ll want to be right there with you on the couch at the end of the day.

Temperament & Personality
Boxers are highly intelligent, upbeat, and undeniably energetic.
They are famous for the “kidney bean” dance — twisting their bodies into a vibrating semi-circle when they are excited to see you. While they are naturally protective and make excellent watchdogs, they are generally not aggressive unless their family is threatened.
They do, however, retain a puppy-like demeanor for the first three years of their lives, meaning they require consistent training to channel all that exuberance.
Care & Exercise Needs
This is not a couch-potato breed. A Boxer needs vigorous daily exercise to stay happy and prevent boredom-induced destructive behavior.
- Exercise: At least 1 to 2 hours of active play or walking every day. They excel at running, playing fetch, and agility training.
- Grooming: Very low maintenance. Their short, tight coat requires only a quick weekly brushing with a hound glove to keep shedding manageable.
- Training: Highly trainable but occasionally stubborn. Keep sessions fun, positive, and varied so they don’t get bored.
Is the Boxer Right for You?
If you want a quiet, low-energy dog that is happy to lounge all day, the Boxer isn’t the right fit.
But if you have an active household, want a fiercely loyal companion, and don’t mind a bit of slobber and a lot of goofy antics, the Boxer is an unbeatable addition to the family.
